NSSSA

Hello everybody!

This weekend was, as I told you before, NSSSA, which is short for Nova Scotia Secondary School Students' Association. The conference was called CADABRA, which is short for Caring Adolescents Discovering Abilities By Realizing their Attributes. It was such a fun weekend!

It started with a motivational speech by Scott Hammell. He is a magician and he is a great guy and speaker! Here's a video of one of the things he did at the conference: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXfmi0RdMU8

After that we were divided into skill building groups, each group had about 5-10 people and two skill builders. In this group we had five sessions and we played games and thought about communication, leadership skills, working under pressure etc. It was really fun and through those games you learned something without really studying it.

We had a couple of Wendy sessions too, where we did cheering and stuff like that. They were really fun and we were so loud!

Another thing we did was called EPIC and we had to do little games in our skill building groups to collect things to win the rally. It's hard to explain, but it was fun!

At night we had a talent show, and there were a lot of talented people there!

We went to sleep late at night or early in the morning, how ever you wanna call it and got woken up at 7:30 with switching the lights on in the gym and playing the bagpipes. It was a short and uncomfortable night, but really fun!

We were all really sad when we had to leave and to all the exchange students that are coming to Nova Scotia: Go to NSSSA!

I'm so glad that we have a snow day today, because now I got all the sleep I missed at the conference.

We got our report cards on Friday and my final marks in my first semester courses were:

English 10: 90%

Science 10: 96%

Core French 10: 98%

Tourism 11: 97%

I think that's everything I have to say right now, but go to NSSSA and watch videos of Scott Hammell! He's a great speaker and magician and I'm glad that I met him at the conference! :D

Hugs to everybody,

Julia
