Half time & Exams

Hi everybody :)

Today is half time of my time here in Canada. 151 days here and 151 days to go! I can't believe it, time flies so fast and I don't really know if I should be happy or not. On one hand I can't wait to come back to Germany and to see my family and my friends again, but on the other hand I serioulsy never want to leave this wonderful place! I love it here!

This week, January 28th-31st, was exam week. We had one exam every day in the first two periods and for the rest of the day you can either go home and study for the next one or hang out with your friends. I only had two exams this week, Monday and Tuesday in English and Science, because last Thursday I already had my oral French and Tourism exam. All of them were really easy and I only had to study for science.

The written exams were a mix between multiple choice, short and long (essay) answers.

Tomorrow, on Friday February 1st, the second semester starts. The courses I have right now are:

Business Technology 11

PE 11

Child Studies 11

Math 10

I will see if I like these courses and if not I will change them.

Last week it was freezing cold here in Canada. We had about -15 to -20°C, but with the wind that blows really strong here at the sea, we had about -25 to -35°C. It was so cold I'm telling ya! I've never had those temperartures in my life and it was just so cold! Yesterday it began to warm up and we got rain :( It was a weird feeling to go out when it's 5°C and you feel like it's really warm. Now we have about 10°C with really strong winds and a lot of rain. It sucks, but it's actually nice after this week of freezing cold temperatures.

I think that's it for now,

Hugs to Germany

Skiing

Helloooo :)

Okay so this entry is basically only about skiing, 'cause this is what I've been doing the last few days. I went the first time on Saturday with one of my best friends and her dad and we had a really good time! We went to Ski Martock, all of the times so if you're interested, just google it. It is so much fun to ski there, because it's not that hard and you can just ski really fast and have fun! I really like the hill there.

The second time I went was on Monday with the internationals. It was so much fun, because I was basically the only girl that could ski so I went with some of the boys that could ski or snowboard. That was so much fun, because they went fast and we sometimes watched all the girls and some of the boys learning how to ski or snowboard and it was just hilarious :D We had a good time and I can't wait until we're going again next semester, although it's going to be really sad because almost half of our group here leaves in about 2 weeks, when the first semester is over. Time is flying so fast and I can't believe that almost half my time here is over! It's just going by too fast! But anyway I'm going skiing with the school tomorrow too so I hope we're going to have a good time as well! :)

The exams are the last week of January and I'm kinda excited for them. And after that: It's the second semester! I hope that my courses will be fun.

I have some news too and what it is is that I will be alone in my host family the next semester. My mexican host sister has to change host families, I don't want to say the reason here, but I'm kinda happy about it and there won't be enough new students coming so that we could get a new student. But that's okay with me I just wanted to let you know. I think that's all I have to talk about for now, so I'm going to talk to you later guys!

Happy New Year!

Hello everybody!

I wish you all the very best for 2013 and a happy new year! I can't believe that I'm here for 4 months now and that I'm going to fly home this year! But it's a good feeling too though. School started again after the break today, and I realized that I actually missed school, because it's so much fun here. So I'm glad to go back to school, even if it sounds funny for German people.

I bet you want to know how I celebrated New Year's Eve in Canada. If not, just don't read further ;)

On the 31st nothing special happened. My friend, Annika, was still here and in the evening I went over to Liverpool with her to her host family. We were there around 9pm and we basically just waited and ate candy and chocolate. We watched the countdown in Halifax on TV and then it was 2013. Unbelievable! I still can't believe it, because I don't know where my year 2012 went?! After 12pm we went outside, we is now Annika, Kennedy (her friend) and me and we walked to the beach and it was actually pretty cool to be on the beach in the moonlight and there was a whole bunch of frozen seaweed and we were able to stand on it. Pretty cool to spend New Year's Eve on the beach on a bunch of frozen seaweed in the moonlight. We had fun. After we walked home we were just in time to watch the Balldrop on the Times Square in NYC (1am our time). It was so awesome to see and I really want to spend one New Year's Eve of my life there! Then we went to the beach again to do some fireworks. We didn't have much and we only had it, because of Annika and me, because fireworks aren't very popular here (except for at the big events) almost nobody is doing them on their own, what I think is pretty sad. Fireworks and New Year's Eve just belongs together for me. It was a cool night and we went to bed at around 3:30am. We slept a long time and just relaxed the whole day. We did one cool thing. Kennedy was coming over again and we did a note in a bottle (Flaschenpost) and threw it into the sea. I'm really curious if we'll get an answer back and from where. In the evening of New Year's Day we went to the movie theatre in Bridgewater and saw "This is 40". It was a really funny movie and a great thing to end New Year's Day.

I came back to Digby on the second and now everything is normal again. We still have snow outside from the snowstorm we got last Sunday, about 20-25cm I think. I love it, it looks so lovely and pretty outside and I'm just waiting for my first "Snow Day" at school. It is so cold outside this week. Today the high was around -8°C and with the wind chill around -20°C. That is so freaking cold!

I'm going to write later again guys. Happy New Year! Time flies.
